Fernadina Beach, Fl. 8/28-29/10

We weigh anchor at St. Augustine and head to Fernadina Beach. This is the first time we are covering new ground for we have visited our previous stops many times over the past years.
As we approach the town, we see two HUGE paper mills. One at each end of the town and we are thinking "industrial" site. This could be a mistake. What a pleasant surprise!! This is a delightful town containing both character and charm. We go to church at Mike's namesake where the usher is from southeast Indiana and the priest from India.
Florida is a very cosmopolitan place!! We have dinner at Art Pizza where they prepare their fare in a real wood burning oven. After dinner, we stroll past beautiful antebellum homes. The one in our picture is still lived in by descendants of the original owners. Then, we get serious and shop. Oh ladies, the shopping is grand!! Even Mr. Mike says they had such tasteful and orginal items. Fernidina Beach, Amelia Island, is a lovely way ti spend the day. We buy fresh shrimp out of buckets right off the shrimp trawler and reluctantly move on.
