St Augustine Fl. 8/27/10 Anchorage

We left New Smyrna in the morning of the 27th headed to St. Augustine where we anchored out. The mooring field was still under construction and the city advised against tying up to a mooring. Out went the hook once again, there was no problem holding in the south field with the heavy currents. We had just spent a week there last April, so we felt we had the area covered. No need to go into town this time.
I took a picture of Mike at the helm with the St. Augustine lighthouse in the background. It's that little "pencil" shaped object just to the left of Mike. And he said my picture would not turn out!!
Just to the north of town we encountered a gaggle of small boats clogging the channel. What's going on here?? We called out to them as to clear our way. They told us it was the start of recreational shrimping. Did we have a bucket to give them? They'd share!
That afternoon we came across the longest docks we had ever seen. Easily a quarter of a mile...or more!! A very long walk to your boat!! " Oh honey, I forgot my sunglasses' could be a very serious statement. In the days a head, we saw a lot more of these long dock, but never quite as long as these.
